National airline Gulf Air of Bahrain has announced the beginning of two weekly direct flights to Tel Aviv, Israel.

Acting chief executive officer Captain Waleed  Al Alawi said: “We are thrilled to announce the opening of our Bahrain–Tel Aviv route as part of the historic Bahraini–Israeli relations. As Bahrain’s national airline, we are proud to help the Kingdom’s leadership maintain regional peace and prosperity. We’re hopeful that this is only the beginning of new possibilities.

Following the announcement of peace between Bahrain and Israel and the signing of political, commercial, and civil aviation agreements between the two nations last year, the airline announced the inauguration of its newest destination.

“I would like to express my gratitude to all the authorities in Israel for making this inaugural trip as seamless as possible and for all the help extended to commemorate this momentous occasion.
