Following the departure of Adel Al-Sanea as CEO of Kuwait Airways, the airline has a new CEO. Chief Operating Officer Captain Eissa Al-Haddad will serve as temporary CEO in place of Al-Sanea, who abruptly left his position to pursue other opportunities. It’s not clear why Al-Sanea quit the airline less than a year after he started working there.

After years of restructuring, Kuwait Airways has elevated deputy chief executive Kamil Al Awadhi to oversee the airline in the Arabian Gulf.

Veteran Kuwait Airways employee Al Awadhi will begin his new job on November 1, the company announced through Twitter. His predecessor will be acting CEO Abdullah Al Sharhan, who took over in April.

According to his LinkedIn page, Mr Al Awadhi began working for the airline in September 1999 as an engineer in the quality control department, eventually ascending to the post of deputy chief executive in 2016.

After Kamil al-Awadhi joined the International Air Transport Association, Sanea was named acting CEO in September of last year (IATA). Sanea’s resignation, which comes as the coronavirus crisis continues to plague airlines all over the world, has been given no explanation at all.
