in addition to Emirates Leisure Retail, SEGAP (an Egis-AIIM joint venture) has signed an agreement with The Government of Zanzibar for the concession of the Zanzibar International Airport (ZIA) to dnata, a leading global air and travel services provider.

SEGAP will assist the Zanzibar Airports Authority (ZAA) in managing the new international terminal (T3) at the Zanzibar Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) under the terms of the partnership. All food, beverage, duty-free, and commercial outlets at T3 will be managed by Emirates Leisure Retail in partnership with MMI.

Ground and passenger handling services at ZNZ will be provided by the dnata brand, the best service provider. More than 4,000 flights a year are expected to be handled at the airport by dnata.

Additionally, dnata will invest in a modern cargo centre at the airport to support local trade and businesses. Perishable goods, pharmaceuticals, dangerous goods and live animals, as well as aircraft engines and vehicles will all be handled in a safe and efficient manner at the facility.

Additional services from marhaba, Dnata’s airport hospitality brand, will be launched to help passengers enhance their experience and enjoy a smooth airport journey from check-in to boarding.

As a result of dnata’s expansion into Zanzibar, up to 400 direct local jobs will be created by the company.

At least 36 countries are covered by the services of dnata’s ground handling and cargo services, which include Tanzania for the first time.
