Using the latest in Hawk trainer aircraft, the new squadron will annually train eight Qatari pilots.It has been announced that a new Joint Hawk Training Squadron has been established between the United Kingdom and Qatar. The Royal Air Force (RAF) Leeming in Yorkshire held a Reformation Event where the new Joint Hawk Squadron was unveiled.

New Joint Hawk Squadron (Qatar) has been named ’11 Squadron (Qatar)’ to further strengthen RAF-Qatari relations and friendship (QEAF). Nine Hawk Mk167s have been purchased by Qatar so far. It is part of a £6bn package that includes the production of 24 Typhoons and bespoke training for BAE Systems in Lancashire.

It was a pleasure to welcome His Excellency Dr Khalid to RAF Leeming, according to UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace: “The UK’s defence relationship with Qatar is strong and long-lasting.
