As the United Arab Emirates airline Etihad Airways prepares for the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, it has unveiled its new 2021 Formula One uniform. It’s time for the final World Championship race, which will take place on Sunday, December 12th.
Etihad Airways Cabin Crew will wear the new uniforms at Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi’s exclusive Paddock Club. The airline chose Emirati designer Yara Bin Shakar to create this year’s design as a way to represent Abu Dhabi around the world.
To represent the Yas Marina Circuit’s Formula 1 track, a sporty black jumpsuit features an asymmetrical wraparound belt shaped and designed to look like a traditional Emirati embroidered belt. Embroidery on the belt shows the Etihad colour palette, which was chosen because it is a timeless colour.
Emirati fashion designer Yara Bin Shakar is known for her reversible, practical, and modest designs. Her degree in Fashion and Textiles was earned by her at the University of Sharjah, UAE, in 2013. The designer has since opened a concept store with her business partner, House of 45, which displays both her own designs as well as those of other UAE-based designers.
