During Qatar Airways’ first flight to Odesa, Ukraine, the airline’s second gateway to the country, the plane arrived at Odesa International Airport on Dec. 9, 2021.

Using an Airbus A320 aircraft, flight QR309 was welcomed with an opening ceremony attended by the Odesa’s Regional State Administration, Mr. Serhii Hrynevetsky; the City Mayor of Odesa, Mr. Hennadii Trukhanov; the Odesa’s Regional Council, Mr. Hryhoriy Didenko; and Odesa City Council Director of Culture and Tourism, Ms. Tetiana Markova, as well as the Director General of Odesa Inter.

This new service to Odesa is a sign of the expanding ties between Qatar and Ukraine,” stated Qatar Airways Group CEO, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker. Flights between Doha and Odesa are expected to be popular with seafarers and offshore workers throughout the world, who will be able to use our industry-first ‘Mariner Lounge’ at Hamad International Airport, the home airport of the airline, to relax and unwind (HIA).

In addition to connecting Odessa passengers with more than 140 locations across the world, “this vital new gateway will provide a better connection to both business and leisure travelers.”

Mr. Volodymyr Semenchenko, director-general of Odesa International Airport, said: “2021 has been an eventful year for Odesa Airport culminating with further great news; the commencement of a partnership with Qatar Airways, the World’s Best Airline according to the World Airline Awards 2021 ranking by Skytrax.” Passengers on our new Doha-Odesa route will be able to explore new destinations across the world.
